As I am currently exhausted I don't hold out high hopes for an articulate and intriguing blog post.
The morning was long (very long). The surgery went well. The repair was somewhat more complex than they anticipated but still ...all good.
In recovery Jacob impressed everyone with how well he was doing and they took him off the breathing tube earlier than planned. All other recovery milestones are going according to plan.
They say the first couple nights can be rough so we are waiting for 'rough' to happen. So far there is no sign of it. Jacob is resting well. we hope rough never shows up.
He's attached to a LOT of stuff and some of it might be bothersome to look at (fair warning) But wanted to post a few pics of our bug-a-boo anyway. He is such a little trooper.... And still cute!
You are definitely still cute, and we are amazed at your resiliency. Those big beautiful, bright eyes melt everyone's heart. Sleep tight little bug-a-boo. And thanks to mommy and daddy for keeping us all up-to-date. Love, Auntie B and Uncle Fun
ReplyDeleteI love the last photo! He is so cute and looks wonderful. And yes, sometimes those first few days were a little "rough"... for Ian it was maybe needing some more heart meds, or an antibiotic, or a little fever, or more pain meds. Those things were "par for the course" with open heart surgery and the thing that comforted me was that they were nothing that was unexpected. The doctors, nurses, and staff knew what to do when they arose. The best advice I got as we made our way through this time was to step back and look at the big picture... even if he has a few bumps, look at how far he has come overall. That brought me a lot of comfort! And your strong, sweet little boy is breathing on his own! YAY! That is a HUGE milestone! Many prayers for all of you! Catch some rest when your baby boy is resting and keep the caffeine coming at the other times! You are headed in the right direction to HOME! Big hugs!!
ReplyDeleteOh Missy, been thinking of you all, and what a little wonder Jacob is..... just a strong loving little trooper! His eyes seem to show I'm just going thru the motions with no complaints. What a love bunny......thanks for sharing and wonderful to hear, Jacob is doing so well!
