Slow and Steady Wins the Race

Eating update! One bite at a time....

Jacob is still getting all (99.9%) of his nutrition via g-tube (the magic button in his belly). Since we started the blended diet, he's been doing great (really great - more energy, growing well, etc) but still all through the tube.

We practice eating by mouth. (.... and practice... and practice...)

Yes, Jacob is making progress. It's just slow going.

We hear from therapists that slow going is expected and that we should still be glad that we aren't fighting any oral aversions. So there we are. Still practicing and being thankful that practice isn't a fight. It's fun. Jacob just isn't quite sure yet what this eating activity is for.

The silver lining? How many parents of an 18 month old can say that their kid eats exactly what they want them to eat? Woohoo, we can!

'Cause when you are shoving it through a tube, he doesn't have much opportunity for an opinion. Here come the Brussels sprouts!
