Minor Technical Difficulties
Hmmmm... so not sure why but I am told that the email for yesterday's post did not include a link to the video.
If you click HERE you should be directed to the post online that has a functional video.
I'll have to scrutenize the blog app I am using to figure out why the link was left out of the previous email. Clearly if that app knew it was a cute video of Jacob sitting on the beach.. it would have definitely been included.
Enjoy!

Sitting and the Sea
We've been working on sitting up by ourselves for quite. a. while. The struggle seems to be largely because 'we' don't really care that much about sitting up by ourselves. Therefore practicing it seems -well- uninspired.
Jacob also seems to have a little security issue and likes having something behind him or around him for a little extra support and without it seems to -well- freak out and/or give up/fall over.
There is a lot of talk in the development/therapy world about motivators and finding the right thing to inspire desire, so-to-speak, for continued progress. As a result Jacob's parents and therapists have been working hard to find just the right toy, lights, excitement that will provide said motivation.
On our recent trip to the northern camp the little man surprised us the first time we plopped him down on the beach. We were reminded of something that we all know is true.... that there is no battery powered colored plastic that can hold a candle to sun, sand, and sea when it comes to inspiration. And inspired we were.
Footnote: Apparently also worth sitting up? Um, the shopping cart at Ace Hardware. First shopping cart experience ever... Fun!

Good to Know
Jacob's First Camping Trip
The wonderful thing about new experiences is that in the complicated equation of life, new experiences let us start to establish and sort out the knowns and unknowns. On our first camping trip, Jacob, we can do just that.
Good to know...
The wonderful thing about new experiences is that in the complicated equation of life, new experiences let us start to establish and sort out the knowns and unknowns. On our first camping trip, Jacob, we can do just that.
Good to know...
- On Labor Day weekend there is always camping.
- It will rain. Sometimes it is a dry rain, sometimes it isn't... but rest assured it will rain.
- It is very likely hiking will be involved. It is very unlikely that we will stay on marked trails for said hike. We should explain to you though that our track record is pretty good. We've been hiking with this approach for many years and have always managed to make it back to camp in time to cook a big yummy dinner (just some occasions we eat later than others depending on the 'short cut' we took).
- It is also likely boating will be involved but this is dependent on the severity of the rain situation. This year, no boating. Next year, expect to have a life jacket on.
- A tradition of friends determined to be around a campfire this one time a year to tell stories, catch up, enjoy the outdoors, and see each others families grow up ....is a bless'ed thing and worth every pair of soggy socks.

On Jacob's first camping trip he saw a lot of firsts. He loved it. And so did we. Lots of fun and cuddles and love from friends who have been cheering for the little man from afar and got to squeeze his cheeks for the first time in person.~
Hiking venture in a jazzy rig on Dad's back. Wicked. |
Cheers until next labor day weekend!
