And this would be the sign for 'look how cute I am' that he came up with by himself....

It is the season of vacation... and the subsequent vacation withdrawal. Two weeks on the shore... the peace and joy of the sound of the ocean... sunshine and sand... surrounded by family... we are spoiled... we know... and we are grateful. Two days back to the grind and we are all suffering the expected withdrawal. Remembering the peace through pictures helps.
I have so much to blog about. Advocacy. Learning to eat. Sign language. Speech. Communication. And oh we are so, so, so close to taking our first steps. Jacob is growing by leaps and bounds and some days we just wonder where baby Jacob went and who this big boy is!?
But first. Soothing withdrawal and sharing vacation...

In the last post when I said bubbles was one of Jacob's favorite pastimes, that may have been an understatement. Jacob lives for bubbles. Jacob is crazy for bubbles. As a result we have become serious bubble connoisseurs around here. Our latest favorite bubble gadget is one a friend sent us. It is mind blowing. It can fill a room with bubbles without much effort from the bubble maker.... which Jacob takes full advantage of, signing 'more' over and over again until he is completely surrounded.
PLUS. Some combination of the bubble thing itself and the bubble concoction it came with creates bubbles that are light and float a long time, which gives Jacob more time to watch them and more time to pop them. It's all good magic for a two year old.

Last weekend we went to the science center's bubble days which included a bubble artist.... performing a show called Bubblemania (see, I told you... bubble crazy!).
The show was very good but you know, there was a lot of science information and talking along with the bubble tricks. Not exactly targeted toward the attention span of a toddler.
At least one of us was completely riveted...
I'm sure Jacob was thinking... 'What kind of bubble expert is this guy? My daddy can make hundreds of bubbles forever and ever and ever without any talking.... but this guy... only one or two fancy bubbles in between all the talking..... boooorrrring. Maybe I'll just make faces at Mama instead.'
On the patio of the science center they had great vats of bubble solution and lots of big bubble wands for anyone and everyone to use ...so that is where we went after the show. At which point I am sure Jacob was thinking... Now we're talkin'.... !

Footnote: I do think I should promise a bubble summary. We have found a lot of great products (no, not all bubbles are created equal). I am going to hold off on said summary until after vacation though since we plan to try some homemade (Pinterest) recipes while we are away and it would only be fitting to include a Jacob tested homemade recipe in a summary, no?
