I think I mentioned in the last post that Jacob is not walking yet. So as not to leave anyone in a sad or concerned state about the situation, I thought I would follow up with a walking post. As with most topics Jacob related, there is nothing sad about the situation. Jacob is as happy as can be. The inability to walk is frustrating, yes. Both for Jacob who wants to be moving quite a bit more and also for the backs of Jacob's parents (just try carrying a 28 lb child around for awhile and your back will be frustrated too).
Walking independently is not coming quickly or easily for Jacob...but it's coming. Jacob has physical therapy twice a week and over the last two years we have worked on all kinds of activities.... but at the moment we work a lot on... Walking. And it is a lot of hard work but he keeps trudging along. He's getting soooooooo close. On any given day it is a toss up whether the bigger hurdle is physical ability or confidence but either way, so far one of them is winning.
We have no doubt Jacob will overcome both soon and before we know it we will be writing about how hard it is to chase him around. For the moment, here's a little medly of his progress so far...
